About Shelby Lock

Shelby Lock is a composer, mix engineer, and pianist on a mission to break boundaries. As a composer, Shelby writes music that uplifts, inspires, and transports listeners to another time and place. She has performed her piano compositions at the Kennedy Center and is a three-time Finalist for the American Prize in Composition.

Owner of the studio Silver Moon Sound, Shelby specializes in mixing classical, jazz, folk, singer-songwriter, and other genres of acoustic music. A Voting Member of the Recording Academy / GRAMMYs® Producers and Engineers Wing with over 100 mixing credits to her name, Shelby earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Audio Engineering Technology (B.S.) and Music Composition (B.M.) from Belmont University in 2017, with additional graduate studies in Music Composition at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. She enjoys combining her technical and musical expertise to bring her mixing clients' projects to life.

Shelby is passionate about making the music industry more inclusive and raising awareness for neuroimmune conditions. In 2024, she was elected to a Governor's seat on the Recording Academy Chicago Chapter Board. She is Founding Chair of the Audio Engineering Society’s Accessibility Subcommittee of the DEI Committee, and she serves on the Partnerships Committee of Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities (RAMPD). Shelby is also a founding member of the Neuroimmune Foundation's Community Advisory Board, which advocates for patients with encephalitis, PANS/PANDAS, ME/CFS, and related conditions.

Shelby’s goal in life is to use her music and her experiences to be a force of change, hope, and positivity in the world.
