About Pauline Maudy

Pauline Maudy is a French-Australian singer, songwriter and artistic director known for her band MZAZA, her prolific collaborations as a solo artist, and her intensively touring projects. Born in France to French and Spanish/Moroccan parents, Pauline is now based in Australia but works internationally.

Her songs in French and English have been widely recognised through awards such as the Australian Folk Music Artist of the Year Award - Group (2025), Australian Folk Music Artist of the Year Award - Solo (2023), the Lord Mayor’s Fellowship (2024), and Queensland Music Awards for Best Song (World) in 2015, 2016 and 2021. She was also a national finalist in the French-Australian Excellence Awards (2025)

Her most recent album with six-piece MZAZA, ‘The Birth and Death of Stars’, was finalist in the Australian Folk Music Awards (Best Contemporary Folk Music Album), and was described by Songlines Magazine as “a supernova of an album ★★★★”, and as having an aesthetic that recalls the free-spirited romanticism of Lhasa de Sela or the redoubtable France-based collective Lo’Jo. It featured in the Transglobal World Music charts for two months.

Pauline sings in a multitude of languages and collaborates across genres, artforms, and frontiers. She has travelled to Belgium to write and tour with the L’Orchestre International du Vetex (BE/FRA), and co-wrote and featured on the single ‘Sin tu Calor’, released by Spanish/Belgian band Rumbaristas in May 2025 through Mamita Records. She has also collaborated with contemporary classical composer Robert Davidson (AU), guitarist Anthony Garcia (AU), jazzwoman Lisa Liu (USA), acclaimed lyricist Boris Bergman (FRA), Bosnian/Australian composer Goran Gajic (AU). She has supported Baba Zula (TUR), the Violent Femmes (USA), The Audreys (AU), and DJ Click (FR).

Pauline is also a skilled advocate, mentor, and community engagement consultant.
