About Margot Bevington

Margot Bevington is an award winning songwriter, educator, and performer whose music celebrates imagination, empathy, and the belief that every child’s voice counts. A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Margot discovered early that music could open doors that words sometimes could not. Growing up with a speech delay, she developed a deep connection to rhythm, melody, and storytelling, tools that later shaped both her teaching and songwriting.

Her albums One and Two is Three and I Am 4, 5, 6 have received national recognition including a National Parenting Product Award, a Tillywig Parent’s Favorite Product Award, and a Creative Child Magazine CD of the Year Award. Her songs have been featured on programs such as Saturday Morning Cereal Bowl and Kids Place Live. Reviewers have praised her work for pairing playful melodies with thoughtful themes that help children explore creativity and emotional awareness.

Margot’s newest program, “I Count,” grew out of her research as a music educator examining the history of counting songs and representation in children’s music. The project introduces new number songs with a double meaning, counting numbers while affirming that every child counts.

Alongside her music career, Margot has spent more than two decades in education, teaching music, kindergarten, and Special Education, developing inclusive curriculum, and working with neurodivergent students. She was considered for the GRAMMY Music Educator Award and has led programs ranging from anti bullying initiatives to student performance ensembles.

Based in Pennsylvania, Margot performs interactive concerts and educational programs nationally, including recent appearances at Schlow Regional Library, Discovery Space of Central Pennsylvania, and community venues throughout Centre County.

Margot finds her deepest inspiration in many full-circle moments - like when students create their own music, including later on as professional musicians - proving the lasti
