About Cato Zane

Hi! I'm an audio engineer, music producer, and educator with over 20 years of audio engineering experience. I've had the privilege of working on everything from traveling Broadway shows to Super Bowl commercials, to working with numerous Grammy winners. The majority of my current work is as a music producer, working with indie clients, specializing in cinematic pop and alt rock music. I'm the head engineer at Lost and Sound Foundry, a boutique studio in San Diego that I'm proud to have recently opened after years of working in larger commercial studios. I also run a small audio engineering and music production Youtube channel, I recently got a perfect GPA while earning a master's in Music and Music Education from Columbia University, and I'm a faculty member at San Diego State University (teaching their introduction to recording and live sound reinforcement class).

I was diagnosed with POTS back in the early 2000s, and I've been learning to adapt ever since. I've also done extensive work with inner city students as part of Music 4 Peace San Diego, and in collaboration with Playing For Change and the United Nations, and I currently volunteer as a board member on a handful of music education advisory boards. I'm also a volunteer puppy sitter / puppy raiser for Guide Dogs For The Blind, and I've spent the last couple of years doing the NAMM Day of Service (and hope to continue to do so!).
