About Aoede

Lisa Sniderman, aka Aoede, is an award-winning San Francisco-based artist, playwright and disabled artist advocate who uses her arts and music to elevate and empower those with chronic illnesses and disabilities to improve their mental health and wellness, grieve and thrive. She’s been honored with more than 100 accolades and awards for songwriting, audiobooks, films, stage plays, voiceover and books all while suffering from rare autoimmune diseases for 15 1/2 years: dermatomyositis, a progressive muscle weakness disease and primary immune deficiency. Her memoir: "A Light in the Darkness: Transcending Chronic Illness through the Power of Art and Attitude" (Sep 2018), chronicles her 10-year journey living with chronic illness while creating to heal. In July 2020, she held a free two-week online summit to help others struggling with chronic illness thrive, attended by 1,800 participants. She released her ninth studio album, "The Grieving Project," August 2020, that sets the stages of grief to music, which she is adapting to a stage musical for chronically ill and disabled communities to bring radically accessible live and virtual immersive theatrical experiences to those who can't attend live theatre (https://thegrievingproject.com/musical). She currently serves on RAMPD's Executive Committee as Secretary and as RAMPD's Engagement Co-Chair.
