About anna roberts

Anna RG is a disabled/chronically ill artist, composer and improvisor based in Queens. Her experimentation moves outward from a decade of apprenticeships in communities of traditional song and fiddle in Appalachia; and more recently, is rooted in in her experiences with long covid and disability justice.

Her multimedia collaboration Anna & Elizabeth was heralded “a radical expansion of what folk songs are supposed to do” (New Yorker); they performed at Carnegie Hall, Cafe Oto, Big Ears Festival, NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, Meredith Monk’s Gala and were MacDowell Colony fellows.

As a singer and instrumentalist, she has performed with Lonnie Holley, Hands Free, Paul Wiancko, Glen Hansard, Lankum, Ellen Fullman, Susan Alcorn, Jim White, Luke Stewart, Leo Abrahams, Timo Andres, Thomas Bartlett, and Sarah Hennies. She was recently commissioned by Aizuri Quartet and Parlando, was artist in residence at Smithsonian Folkways, and is currently pursuing her MFA in Sculpture at Bard.
